Kelly Shepardson, Ph.D. Student

Kelly comes from the heart of the Finger Lakes region in NY.  There she attended Wells College and graduated with a degree in biochemistry and molecular biology in 2009.  As an undergraduate, she participated in research programs studying vaccine stability and development at Cornell University (Dr. David Putnam) and the biochemistry of metabolic acidosis at Colorado State University (Dr. Norman Curthoys).  She is now participating in the Molecular Biosciences Program research fellowship at Montana State University.  For my Ph.D. dissertation I plan on studying the role of hypoxia and HIF1α on the ability of phagocytes of the innate immune system to kill Aspergillus fumigatus.
